Before you start

Install Cline and create an API key in the console. New verified accounts receive $5 in starting credit.

Configure the provider

Open Cline’s settings using its gear icon. Enter these values under the API provider settings: The provider, URL, key, and model fields follow Cline’s OpenAI-compatible configuration. Enter the model ID manually if the picker only shows compatibility aliases. If your Cline version has separate provider settings for Plan and Act, configure both. The output setting above is a practical starting point, not the gateway’s maximum. Review request limits before increasing it. Do not enable image or computer-use capabilities for this text endpoint.

Try a task

Save the settings, open a project, and ask Cline to explain a small file. Once the connection works, ask for a focused change and review the proposed edits and commands.

If something fails

  • Invalid key: copy a current key from the console. A revoked key cannot be reused.
  • Wrong endpoint: the base URL ends in /v1; do not append /chat/completions in Cline’s base URL field.
  • Tool or context errors: reduce the attached files and active tools. Large tool definitions count toward request limits.
  • Credits or throttling: check your balance and API error guidance.
